Default Men should wear boots...

....when wearing jeans. That was what a friend of mine said over lunch one day. To an extent, I have to agree-- it's just more...masculine? I have a pair of Frye's that I love to death. I don't think Marlon Brando would be who he is today if he wore sneakers everywhere.

What do you guys think? What type of boots do you guys wear?

And women, please feel free to respond-- I'm sure a guy in boots does something for you as much as me seeing a woman in them, too!

Agreed. I own a pair of Caterpillar from the Legendary Raw Collection that are just the best boots that I know. I think they are some Peril dark brown. Top Notch!

Didn't I read somewhere that you're also in Texas? If so, cowboy boots should be the norm...along with Wrangler jeans and a plaid button-down shirt!

Yup yup...boots are great. Women like to see something "substantial" on a mans feet, I think. I learned about this from reading romance novels back in the day. I noticed that the hero was almost always wearing boots in the stories...

I own 2 pairs from Frye. Funny that you mentioned Frye and Brando in your post Rearmount, because these actually used to be called the "Brandos" before they changed the name to the "Rand."

I wear everything from soccer/futbol sneakers to Chucks to Chelsea boots to dress shoes with jeans.

I'm well aware that some of these send a more culturally "masculine" message. But I also believe it's masculine to not care too much about "should", especially with fashion trends.

After all, in Casanova's day, this curvy high-heeled number with the red heel was the height of men's fashion. Trends change, but the essence of masculinity is timeless.

Have to agree. He can be wearing boots and not be masculine...or even attractive to me. however, he can be wearing flip-flops and melt me.

Word. Back in high school and college, when everyone rocked sneakers or flip flops with jeans, I wore dressy type shoes.

I love my Mark Nasons and constantly get compliments, but the day all guys start wearing boots is the day I switch to something else.

These are the boots that I wear, but in dark brown and with black laces.
